When The Big Day finally came, we decided to go the traditional route and not see each other at all. It was surprisingly tough, with all the preparation and nerves, being apart from my best friend, but it was all worth it when I saw her walking down the aisle.

The day went surprisingly smoothly, at least as far as I was concerned. Apparently, thats why you surround yourself with a team of best friends on the day, they make sure you don't see any of the chaos. All I cared about was that my future husband was somewhere in the building with me.

In her words:

Eric and I met in New York on a Sunday night at Sway. It's a lounge downtown that does a weekly Morrissey party. Our eyes met from across the crowded dance floor and we were both smitten. My “wing girl” Shoma (and future Maid of Honor) seized the opportunity to introduce me to Eric by bringing me over to him and pointing out that we were both wearing stripes. She said, “stripes…stripes…discuss,” walked away, and that’s how the love story began.

Eric courted me like a true gentleman and made me feel so special. We shared so many fun nights talking and laughing for hours on end, until the places we were at were ready to close. Nine months after we met Eric asked me to move to Los Angeles with him and I couldn't resist an adventure with the man I loved. It is now almost four years later and we're still in L.A.. 

Eric proposed to me when we went back to New York for the holidays in 2009. He had originally planned to pop the question the night before but his nerves caused him to lock us INTO his apartment and we couldn't escape until the  super let us out the next morning, botching Eric's plan. He needed to ask before we left the city to spend time with both our families in Woodstock. So he dragged me to the Highline in the pouring rain. I didn't know why we didn't just hop into a cab to our destination. He was insistent I follow him. I did, and when we reached the rainy lookout he got down one one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. It was perfect.

When we got engaged we knew we had to have an East Coast wedding. One of our first trips together as a couple was to the Berkshires. When searching for venues we knew we wanted a wedding weekend getaway reminiscent of a summer camp experience, but for adults. We found a gorgeous historical Inn in Lenox, Massachusetts that would give us exclusive use of the grounds and lodging for the entire weekend. We were sold. We had no clue about planning a wedding and all the tiny details and hard work it would entail. We didn't hire a wedding planner and looking back now we see that we drafted out the following themes: Whimsical, Elegant, Romantic, Woodsy. We do think it embodied all of that. We worked really hard to design the wedding to reflect our style and creative taste and to make the weekend memorable for all our friends and family.

The day of our wedding our friends and family were hard at work setting up the venue. They let Eric and I relax and enjoy the day. Everything came together with the design as well as our desire to make it not only about us as a couple but to reflect our values and love. We had a Jewish ceremony but incorporated Latin traditions as well. We wanted to honor and celebrate both of our cultures during the ceremony and throughout the evening. To this day the ceremony feels like a dream. I walked down the aisle to The Smith's "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want". It was an incredible moment, the music filled the woods, and it was so special to walk down to Eric with the music that played the night we met, but this time to walk away as husband and wife.
